Matthew Long

Founder and CEO

Matt has over fifteen years of experience in the areas of developing, operating, and marketing senior housing.

In 2003, Matt founded Long Retirement Management to pursue innovative concepts and provide boutique management services for senior housing projects. Since then, the company has exercised full management control over approximately $20,000,000 in assets and grown to 28 employees. True to its "innovative concepts" mission, the company has refined and developed its organic group housing model for memory care clients – Longhouse Memory Care™. This is an initiative that will provide seniors with a much desired neighborhood-based memory care solution and the company with unique, meaningful future growth.

Prior to founding LRM, Matt served in various management positions for Gencare Senior Living, a privately held company that developed and manages six independent and assisted living communities in Washington and Arizona. In his various roles as Director of Marketing and Administrator, he was directly responsible for the lease up and daily operation of company facilities. Prior to Gencare, Matt worked in various line positions for Sunrise Senior Living, a pioneer in senior housing and a publicly traded company based in McLean, Virginia.

Matt received his start in the senior housing business in 1994 when, as a student at the University of Washington, he accepted a job as Night Manager for Sunrise Senior Living in downtown Seattle. The fact that he worked his way up from the mailroom, so to speak, impacts his approach to senior housing to this day.

Matt serves as the Treasurer for the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce. He maintains his Administratorís license through the Washington Healthcare Association. He received his Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of Washington, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.
